Gazi Mohammad Suhrawardy

Gazi Mohammad Suhrawardy, a post-graduate of Department of Economics, University of Dhaka, has been conducting socio-economic research and consultancy works since 2003 and engaged with over 120 studies and authored and coauthored more than 60 reports during his 22-years long career. He has bounteous expertise in: Agrarian and Land Questions; Rural Livelihood, Agriculture and Food Security; and Poverty, Migration and Development. He has convincing track record of analyzing and triangulating large scale primary data and information. Suhrawardy has provided consultancy services to most of the major UN agencies, international and national NGOs, and government autonomous agencies of Bangladesh. He has number of research-based publications including a co-authored article on role of credit in food security and dietary diversity in internationally-acclaimed peer-reviewed "Journal of Economic Analysis and Policy"; and four books as co-author (on political economy of land law, political economy of contract farming, rural land market, and agricultural production practices in CHT). Apart from the development economics issues, he is deeply interested in evolution of economic thoughts, Marxian and Keynesian Economics. He is the coordinator of Centre for Knowledge (CfK), a voluntary platform for young researchers and development professionals for exercising knowledge. Suhrawardy was born on January 1, 1981 in Munshiganj, Bangladesh and currently lives in Dhaka.
