Iftekharul Islam
Iftekharul Islam holds both bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Disaster Management from the Institute of Disaster Management and Vulnerability Studies, University of Dhaka. He joined the Centre for Research and Development Ltd. (CRD) on 7 July 2025 as a Research Assistant – Research and Evaluation. In recognition of his excellent job performance, professional commitment, and satisfactory contributions to the organization, he was promoted to the position of Research Associate – Research and Evaluation, effective 1 July 2026.
He is a results-oriented research and development professional with more than five years of experience in Bangladesh’s humanitarian and development sectors. He has contributed to over 18 research, evaluation, baseline, endline, and impact-assessment projects involving organizations such as UNICEF, Caritas Bangladesh, Terre des Hommes, Helvetas, EDUCO, AFAD, BRAC, the Center for Disability in Development, and Manusher Jonno Foundation. His principal areas of expertise include Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR), Climate Change Adaptation (CCA), WASH, gender equality and social inclusion (GESI), Safeguarding, PSEA, Sexual and reproductive health and rights, Child protection, Labour rights, Health, and Policy development.
At CRD, Iftekharul supports the design and implementation of research and evaluation assignments by developing quantitative questionnaires and qualitative tools. His responsibilities also include proposal and training-module development, field-team supervision, quantitative and qualitative data analysis, and the preparation of baseline, endline, evaluation, and impact-assessment reports. He is proficient in SPSS, R, ArcGIS, Kobo Toolbox, ODK, Excel, PowerPoint, AI, and other Microsoft Office applications. He is also an experienced trainer and an NST Research Fellowship recipient, with expertise in geospatial risk assessment, research methodology, data collection, statistical analysis, and professional report preparation.
