CRD was entrusted with conducting a “Feasibility Study on the Digitalization of Marriage Registration in Bangladesh”, under BRAC's Social Empowerment and Legal Protection (SELP) Programme and the Right Here Right Now (RHRN) initiative. The study aims to assess the feasibility, relevance, and potential impact of introducing a nationwide digital marriage registration system as a strategic intervention to prevent child marriage and to ensure accountability in marriage practices.

The study used a mixed-methods approach, combining both quantitative and qualitative techniques to analyze technical, legal, and operational dimensions. A team of experienced professionals with backgrounds in social scientific research, particularly in the areas of gender justice, women’s rights, SRHR, child protection, statistical analysis, and field research carried out the study. Their combined expertise  generated evidence-based recommendations to guide policy advocacy, system design, stakeholder engagement, and phased implementation planning for a secure and child-protective marriage registration framework in Bangladesh.
