Coastal Harmony: Resilient Ecosystems, Thriving Communities (CHRETC) Project

CRD has partnered with Good Negthbour Bangladesh as research partner for the “Coastal Harmony: Resilient Ecosystems, Thriving Communities (CHRETC)’ Project. This four-year initiative (2025–2028) is designed to address the urgent climate and livelihood vulnerabilities faced by coastal populations in Taltali (Barguna) and Kalapara (Patuakhali) Upazilas of Barishal Division, Bangladesh. The CHRETC project responds to these challenges through integrated interventions across three strategic outcomes:
- Nature – Community-led coastal mangrove reforestation, sustainable land use, and biodiversity enhancement to strengthen ecosystems and land productivity.
- Climate – Adoption of climate-resilient agriculture and adaptive land management practices among marginalized farmers, including women and youth.
- People – Economic empowerment of climate-affected farmers (including 1,600 women) through cooperatives, financial literacy, entrepreneurship training, and market linkages.
Over the next 48 months, CRD will collaborate with Good Neighbour Bangladesh, Good Neighbour Canada and international research partner ( Seoul National University) to deliver high-quality implementation, research-to-action (R2A) initiatives, and evidence-based advocacy. CRD’s responsibilities will include developing research toolkits, conducting baseline and endline assessments, leading participatory action research, building capacity for women-led cooperatives, and contributing to the Partner Knowledge Exchange Platform (PKEP).
