Impact Evaluation of the SSBC Project, 2024

In the UNICEF Bangladesh Country Programme, Social and Behavior Change (SBC) is integrated under the Programme Effectiveness outcome to drive long-lasting improvements in child rights and welfare which aims to achieve the result “By 2026, system and mechanisms to facilitate increased utilization of services, promotion and adoption of specific key childcare practices and positive social norms and engagement of community including adolescents in development and emergency context strengthened”.

World Vision Bangladesh has been implementing the UNICEF SSBC project (December 2022 – November 2024) “Strengthening Social and Behavior Change for the prevention of harmful social norms (including violence against children and child marriage) & promotion of children and adolescent Well-Being” in Chapainawabganj, Gaibandha & Kurigram District.

As the project is approaching its end, thus the impact evaluation has been decided to be conducted to assess the end situation of project goal, and outcomes indicators. The overall objective of this study is to find out the end status of the project indicators and find out the existing and future opportunities for giving better services for the targeted community effectively.

 

The specific objectives are as follows:

  1. To measure the end status of the project indicators against baseline value both at sub-district, district and national.
  2. To measure the progress of awareness, knowledge, attitude and practices of target population, which is stated in SBC project working area.
  3. Assess the degree of changes against output, outcome and goal level indicators in terms of quantitative and qualitative over the time.
  4. To assess existing socio-economic conditions under sets indicators in project working area.
  5. To assess the gender and social inclusion status in the project working area.  
  6. Assess the promising practices and most impacted interventions of each project over the period that transformed the community towards sustainability.
  7. Identify lessons learned and challenges (with possible solutions) and formulate actionable recommendations, which can be utilized for future reference.  
  8. To assess the present system & structure that contributes to the well-being of children and their communities.
  9. To capture the most important changes/success/impact of the SBC project working area.
