131. Gender Policy Development for 3 PHPs of AFAD
Gender Policy Development for 3 PHPs of AFAD
CRD has been assigned by the Association for Alternative Development (AFAD) to develop Gender Policies for three Peer Humanitarian Partners (PHPs)- Chilmari Distressed Development Foundation (Chilmari), Bakultali Mohila Sangsad (Bhurungamari), and Rural Society Development Association (Rowmari) under the “ToGETHER!” project supported by Malteser International. The assignment aims to strengthen gender equality and inclusion within the three organizations by establishing practical and comprehensive Gender Policies aligned with their organizational values, humanitarian standards, relevant national laws, and international gender equality frameworks.
To support this, CRD will adopt a participatory, evidence-based, and practical approach that includes gender analysis and gap assessment, desk review, stakeholder consultations, action planning, collaborative policy drafting, development of a monitoring and learning system, and other relevant activities. The process will assess gender roles, power relations, access to resources, women’s participation and leadership, gender-responsive HR practices, prevention of discrimination and SEA (Sexual Exploitation and Abuse), safe workplace standards, and accountability mechanisms. The findings will inform the development of contextualized Gender Policies for each PHP, together with an action plan and monitoring and learning system.
The draft policies will be reviewed and validated with management, board members, AFAD, and all PHPs before finalization. CRD will also conduct orientation and training for staff and board members of the three PHPs to strengthen their understanding of the policies and support their effective implementation. An experienced and multidisciplinary team will be engaged throughout the assignment.
