122. National Budget Allocation for Family Farming, Rural Women, Urban Poor, Indigenous Peoples, Youth, and Land Reform
CRD is undertaking a study titled “National Budget Allocation for Family Farming, Rural Women, Urban Poor, Indigenous Peoples, Youth, and Land Reform,” in collaboration with the Association for Land Reform and Development (ALRD). The study aims to assess the adequacy and equity of national budget allocations, with a focus on marginalized groups, and to identify gaps and opportunities for more inclusive, pro-poor, and rights-based budgeting. It will examine key priority areas, including family farming, rural women, urban poor, Indigenous Peoples, youth, and land reform, with attention to issues of access, resource distribution, and inclusive development.
Using a qualitative approach, the study will draw on primary information from regional consultation meetings involving diverse civil society stakeholders, alongside secondary data and document review of national budget materials and related reports. The study will generate evidence-based recommendations to support advocacy for more equitable budget allocations in the upcoming fiscal year, contributing to inclusive and accountable budget processes in Bangladesh. A national seminar will be arranged to validate and disseminate findings and recommendations. A research team, led by a veteran political economist, will lead the study.
