Rapid Analysis on Women's Reserved Seats MPs of 13th Jatiya Sangsad,

CRD has been assigned to conduct a "Rapid Analysis on Women's Reserved Seats (13th Jatiya Sangsad)", commissioned by the International Foundation for Electoral Systems (IFES). The analysis aims to produce a concise, insight-driven analytical note on the selection, positioning, and anticipated role of the 50 women's reserved seat Members of Parliament, focusing on how nomination decisions are being made within political parties and what this means for women's influence in parliament.

CRD is undertaking this analysis to map party-level nomination processes across major political alliances, examine the informal criteria and power dynamics driving candidate selections, compare current practices with past elections, and assess whether reserved seats continue to represent tokenism or present new openings for meaningful political participation. The study will employ a mixed-method approach combining desk review, media monitoring of four national dailies, Key Informant Interviews (KIIs), and In-Depth Interviews (IDIs) to deliver a rigorous political economy read-out of behind-the-scenes selection dynamics.

Findings will provide evidence-based insights to inform policy dialogue on women's political participation, internal party democracy, and parliamentary dynamics in Bangladesh's post-August 2024 political transition. A multidisciplinary team with expertise in gender and governance, political sociology, and Bangladesh's parliamentary politics will lead the study.
