Gender Equality and Inclusion – Self-Assessment (GEISA)

Despite growing global commitments to gender equality, many organizations struggle to translate gender and inclusion principles into everyday practice. Plan International Bangladesh (PIB) initiated the Gender Equality and Inclusion– Self-Assessment (GEISA) to reflect on its internal systems, policies, and programming through a gender lens and assess its commitment to building inclusive and equitable workplaces and programs.
The Centre for Research and Development (CRD) has been assigned to carry out this study. The study aims to assess how PIB’s internal culture, organizational practices, and external interventions promote gender equality and inclusion. The assessment employs a mixed-methods approach, combining a rapid questionnaire survey with participatory tools such as Focus Group Discussions (FGDs), Key Informant Interviews (KIIs), In-Depth Interviews (IDIs), SWOT analysis, desk reviews, and stakeholder consultations. The research will be carried out in four divisions of Bangladesh—Dhaka, Chattogram, Barishal, and Rangpur—targeting Plan staff, partners, local NGOs, community leaders, and direct program participants.
By engaging a wide range of stakeholders, the study will generate practical insights and a comprehensive action plan to help Plan International Bangladesh strengthen its gender equality and inclusion strategies. The findings will guide improvements in leadership practices, policy frameworks, capacity-building efforts, and inclusive program design, contributing to more equitable outcomes for all.
