Position: Research Assistant – Research & Evaluation 
Location: Dhaka (with field visits as required)
 

Key Responsibilities:

 

1.     Assist in quantitative data analysis, including data cleaning, management, and statistical modeling

2.     Design and develop data collection tools.

3.     Collect data using digital devices (e.g., mobile phones, tablets, computers).

4.     Conduct field research activities, including FGDs, KIIs, and IDIs.

5.     Transcribe and translate field notes and interviews into English.

6.     Assist in preparing field reports, meeting summaries, and observation reports.

7.     Contribute to project proposal drafting and supervise field enumerators.

8.     Perform any other duties as assigned by the supervisor or management.

2 03-12-2025 Late Post: Successfully Completed ET for MBS-PT Project Evalaution [

Late post!

23 November 2025, CRD successfully conducted a one-day enumerators’ training for the endline survey of the BMZ-PT project at AFAD’s conference room in Kurigram, Bangladesh. The project was implemented by AFAD at Pachgachi and Ghogadhaha Union of Kurigram Sadar Upazila.

The session began with a project briefing by Amor Das, MEAL Officer of the BMZ-PT Project, AFAD, followed by a CRD research team member providing an overview of the assignment. A detailed discussion on the survey questionnaires and contextual scenarios was held with the enumerators; additionally, AFAD’s team provided support to help understand key project terms. Following this, the enumerators participated in a practice session on data collection using the Kobo Tool app, which enabled them to gain hands-on experience with the survey questionnaire, cross-check Kobo Toolbox logic, and address common challenges and solutions that may arise during fieldwork.

The training session concluded with a discussion on ethical practices that must be maintained during data collection. This assignment is the second assignment that CRD is conducting for AFAD.

3 03-12-2025 Successfully Completed Enumerators Training [

CRD completed the first day of the two-day Enumerators’ training for the Baseline Study of NSSS project of Helvetas Bangladesh on 3rd December 2025, at Hotel Beach Way in Cox’s Bazar. The training started with the introduction of enumerators and facilitators. The following sessions reflect on the overview and methodology of the study, key thematic issues, terms and terminologies, etc. G M Suhrawardy, Head of Research and Evaluation of CRD, facilitated the sessions. Ealy Dhar, MEAL officer at Helvetas Bangladesh, Cox’s Bazar, discussed the NSSS project's activities and shared their expectations for the field researchers. Mohammad Omar Faroque, Deputy Manager- Research & Evaluation, facilitated discussion on survey questions.

4 22-10-2025 Enumerators Training of Child Labour Project Project Evalaution [

On 22nd October 2025, the CRD conducted the first day of a two-day training program for the field enumerators of the Endline Evaluation of “Strengthening the Right to Education for Child Laborers in Dhaka City”. The evaluation is conducted by CRD and commissioned by Educo Bangladesh. The evaluation focuses on children engaged in hazardous works in Dhaka city and seeks to provide flexible education opportunities while reducing child labor, contributing to SDG 4 (Quality Education) and SDG 8.7 (Ending Child Labor). Aiming to enhance enumerators’ understanding of the study, the day-long sessions  included overview on CRD, the evaluation context, objectives, methodologies, core thematic areas such as child labor, the right to education, and application of survey tools in the real setting. 

Dr. Md Mokhlesur Rahman, Managing Director and lead consultant of CRD, inaugurated the training by welcoming participants, introducing all attendees, and presenting a brief about CRD and the evaluation. Mr. Mijanur Rahman (Project Officer, Educo) gave an overview of the project and background of the evaluation. Gazi Mohammad Suhrawardy (Head of Research & Evaluation, CRD) discussed the objectives and methodology of the evaluation. The key terminologies related to child labor and right to education were then discussed by Ms Mahmuda Akter (Deputy Manager, CRD). Mr. Muazzam Hossain (Project Officer, ESDO) talked about the operation, implementation and the potential challenges of conducting the evaluation. A session on survey tool was conducted. The day concluded with facilitating feedback, corrections, and suggestions on the survey tool.

5 22-10-2025 Enumerators Training of HaRPI Project [

The Centre for Research & Development (CRD) successfully conducted two-days long enumerator’s training for the baseline survey of the project “Haor Resilience and Preparedness Initiative HaRPI.” The project is implemented by World Vision Bangladesh in Tahirpur and Dharmapasha district in Sunamganj district. Training jointly conducted by Mr. Anowarul Islam, Field Manager & Mr.  Faroque, Deputy Manager- Research & Evaluation from CRD. Mr. Tapan Saha, from World Vision, also joined the training and contributed presenting project overview and key thematic area.

CRD is conducting the baseline survey of WVB’s HaRPI Project, which focuses on areas such as DRR, early warning system, flood resilience, climate smart agriculture, WASH, shelter and GEDSI. The purpose of the baseline survey is to assess current flood resilience and preparedness conditions in Tahirpur and Dharmapasha (Sunamganj) to serve as a benchmark for measuring HaRPI project progress and a reference point for the final evaluation.

6 12-01-2025 Baseline evaluation training for the Community Development Project (CDP) in Pirganj [ (CRD) conducted a baseline evaluation training for the Community Development Project (CDP) in Pirganj. The training was attended by the CDP Pirganj team from Good Neighbors Bangladesh (GNB), where Bidhan Mondal, the CDP Manager, provided an overview of the project's goals and implementation strategies. Dr. Md. Faizur Rahman Fahad, a medical officer, delivered a briefing on children's and women's health concerns. Several other staff members were also in attendance. Additionally, CRD team members, Nowshin Tabassum and Md. Monjurul Alam Rahi played a vital role in supporting the training and managing overall logistics. ]
7 01-01-2025 CRD celebrated Happy New Year 2025! [

The first day of 2025 at CRD started with colorful celebration! All the staff were full of excitement and positivity! They reflected on last year’s activities, memories, learning from past experiences and mistakes. The small event was celebrated with special lunch, cake cutting, delightful decorations. All staff have collectively committed to making the year ahead  more impactful.

9 15-12-2024 CRD signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Good Neighbors Bangladesh [
On December 15, 2024, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between Good Neighbors Bangladesh and the Centre for Research and Development (CRD) to conduct a baseline evaluation of two Community Development Projects (Pirganj and Dohar) and a midline evaluation of one Community Development Project (Kurigram).
 
On behalf of Good Neighbors Bangladesh, Mr. M. Mainuddin Mainul, Country Director, and on behalf of CRD, Mr. Md. Shafiul Alam, Head of Finance, Administration, and HR, signed the MoU.

10 01-12-2024 Enumerator training for the Asia Resilient Cities (ARC) project [

The Centre for Research and Development (CRD) successfully conducted a two-day enumerator training on 27th and 28th November 2024 at its training center in Dhaka as part of the Asia Resilient Cities (ARC) project. This training prepared enumerators for a scoping study exploring green livelihood opportunities for women in Khulna across four sectors: urban agriculture, renewable energy, waste management, and green construction. The sessions were attended by 10 enumerators along with study team members. In day-1, Ms, Farhana Afroz, Deputy Chief of Party, ARC Project- BRAC & Gender Lead, ARC Asia Region, and Ms Mahenur Alam Chowdhury, Manager Advocacy, Capacity Building, and Knowledge Management, ARC Project- BRAC participated and presented a session on ARC project.  Besides, the lead consultant Dr..Md Mokhlesur Rahman, Urban Agriculture and Value Chain Expert Mr. AKM Rafiqul Islam, and Project Focal Ms. Mahmuda Akter Anna were also present and contributed to the discussion.

First day, covered the project's objectives, respondent categories, and barriers faced by women in green livelihoods. Key facilitators explained the study's methodology, sampling framework, and questionnaire design, with interactive sessions and mock interviews to enhance understanding.

Second day, focused on technical training with a demonstration of the Kobo Toolbox for digital data collection, a detailed review of the questionnaire, and rigorous practice of field interactions. Enumerators participated in Q&A sessions led by Dr. Rahman to address challenges and refine their skills. The training emphasized ethical practices, effective communication, and professionalism, equipping participants to collect data efficiently for this critical study.

11 14-11-2024 A Dissemination Workshop on "Building a Pipeline of Countries for Assistive Technology Investment" [
On 27 October 2024, Helen Keller Bangladesh hosted a Dissemination Workshop on "Building a Pipeline of Countries for Assistive Technology Investment" at the Pan Pacific Sonargaon in Dhaka. The project focused on promoting sustainable investment in assistive technology (AT) by incorporating it into national programs, in partnership with the Government and organizations such as USAID, UNOPS, and ATscale. The event was graced by special guests including Prof. Dr. Nahid Ferdousi, Director of Sheikh Fazilatunnesa Mujib Eye Hospital and Training Institute; Bijoy Krishna Debnath, Additional Secretary (Institutions and Disability Wing), Ministry of Social Welfare; Rekha Rani Balo, Additional Secretary (Planning and Development Wing), Ministry of Social Welfare; and Md. Ismiel Hossain, ndc, Secretary, Ministry of Social Welfare.
As part of the initiative, three situation analyses and two studies on investment and cost analysis for AT were conducted by CRD, GRM, Datascape, and M World. Dr. Mokhlesur Rahman, Managing Director of CRD presented key findings of the assessment CRD carried out (using the ATA-C and STARS tools to improve AT access). The workshop emphasized the importance of strategic investment and partnerships to enhance AT accessibility!

12 26-11-2023 Final Contract Signing with Good Neighbors Bangladesh [

Good Neighbor Bangladesh (GNB) has commissioned Centre for Research and Development (CRD) to conduct “End line evaluation of 3 Community Development Projects (CDP)”. The CDPs include Birganj & Bochaganj (Dinajpur) and Pirganj (Thakurgaon). The assignment has formally been started from 19th November 2023 through a contract signing ceremony. The ceremony was held in the GNB office.  M Mainuddin Mainul, Country Director of GNB, and Dr. Mokhlesur Rahman, CEO of CRD signed on behalf of their respective organizations. Among others, Prosenjit Mollah (Manager – Monitoring & Evaluation, GNB), Bartin Gomes (Head, Monitoring & Evaluation, GNB), Md. Abdus Salam (Head of Business Development & Data Science, CRD), Gazi Mohammad Suhrawardy (Manager– Research & Evaluation, CRD) and Mahmuda Akter (Deputy Manager- Research & Evaluation, CRD) were also present at the ceremony.

13 22-06-2023 Enumerator's Training on Data Collection for WVB JP5 Project [
The Centre for Research and Development (CRD) organized a training session for enumerators at the World Vision Meeting Room in Ukhiya, Cox's Bazar On June 21, 2023. The purpose of the training was to provide enumerators with the necessary information and skills for the project's baseline survey titled "Enhancement of Protection Mechanism and Community Resilience Against Gender-based Violence (GBV) at Refugee Camp and Host Community in Cox's Bazar, Bangladesh." Fatema Luthfunnesa, the Manager of the Project at World Vision BRCR, gave a presentation on the project's background and overview. Mr. Md Abdus Salam, the Head of Business Development and Data Sciences at CRD, and Sabiha Ahmed Diba, the Deputy Manager of Research and Evaluation at CRD, discussed the methodology and data collection techniques, providing instructions on various aspects of the survey app. Md. Anowarul Islam, the Manager of Field Operations at CRD, assisted them in this process. A total of fifteen enumerators participated in the training to carry out the survey.

The 3-day long enumerators training has been successfully completed on 15 June, 2023. 13 Enumerators from different unions of Laksam Upazila participated in the training. They will be deployed to collect data from 3 Unions and Laksam Municipality.
CRD has been assigned to lead evaluation of Laksam Area Program by World Vision Bangladesh (WVB). WVB has been working in Laksam for the last 17 years with thematic interventions in and around Health and Nutrition, Livelihood and Child Sponsorship. 
CRD is leading the assignment with robust methodology and by a vibrant research team. Thanks WVB Laksam AP, Bandarban AP and WVB NO colleagues for participating and extending cordial support to accomplish the assignment.

15 11-06-2023 Quarterly Meeting 2023 [
On June 11, 2023, the Centre for Research and Development (CRD) organized a quarterly meeting at the Bureau of Economics Research (BER) in University of Dhaka. Syeda Amirun Nuzhat, the Project Manager of GGiFI, welcomed the attendees and shared the meeting's plan. Md. Shafiul Alam, the Finance and Admin Manager of GGiFI, made a declaration regarding promotions, discussing how and who would be promoted. A celebration and tea break took place, allowing participants to relax and socialize. Md. Mokhlesur Rahman, PhD, the Founder and CEO of CRD, conducted a session on "Learning from failure" with a focus on DI (Direct Investment) and Care. The event concluded with a regular staff meeting led by Md. Mokhlesur Rahman, PhD. Then, Syeda Amirun Nuzhat proceeded to share the agenda of the meeting.

16 13-06-2023 CRD signed a contract with iDE [

We are delighted to share that yesterday CRD signed a contract with iDE. Under this contract, CRD will be leading two assignments – Rapid Market Assessment and Baseline Study of Oporajita Project. On behalf of iDE, Muhammad Mahfuzur Rahman ( Director of Finance and Operations) signed the contract.  Mr. Abid Ul Huque and Ms Krisha Rana from iDE and Mr. Abdus Salam, Mahmuda Akter and Saleh Khan from CRD were present.

17 02-03-2023 CRD recently held its annual retreat at CCDB Hope Foundation [

The Centre for Research and Development (CRD) recently held its annual retreat at CCDB Hope Foundation from 28 February to 2 March 2023. The event was a great success and provided an opportunity for CRD staff to participate in informative and engaging sessions on various topics related to HR policies, business communication, feminist methodology, emotional intelligence, and project management. The retreat also included fun activities such as team-building games, cultural events, and a raffle draw. Participants had the opportunity to network with colleagues, learn from experienced facilitators, and had a good time.
