MD MOKHLESUR RAHMAN, PhD    ( Founder & CEO )

Dr. Rahman is a Senior  Research and MEAL professional with 16 years of global experience having proficiency in designing, implementing, and managing MEAL systems and functions for complex programmes, leading research and knowledge management project, and conducting training for large audiences (gender, project management, reporting) in multiple countries.


Dr. Rahman has completed his Ph.D. from Jawaharlal Nehru University, India. The title of his Ph.D thesis was “Networks, Wellbeing, and Gender: A Study of Information Communication Technologies Centres in Rural and Urban Bangladesh”. He also holds a MA in Development Studies from the International Institute of Social Studies, The Netherlands, a Master’s degree in Women & Gender Studies from the University of Dhaka, and a Bachelor’s degree (with Honours) in Economics from Rabindra Bharati University, India.


In the recent past, he led the Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability, and Learning (MEAL) Unit of Christian Aid Bangladesh. During this 2 years tenure, he led the establishment of MEAL standards in the Rohingya Response Program of Christian Aid Bangladesh. He also led the quality assurance unit (M&E, Research, Learning, and Gender) with Practical Action Bangladesh during 2012-2017.  Prior to that he also worked with Save the Children Bangladesh, D.Net, BRAC International (Afghanistan).

 Countries of work experience include Ghana, Zimbabwe, Bangladesh, India, Nepal, Pakistan, Afghanistan & The Netherlands. He also served for The Hunger Project Bangladesh, Swiss Development Cooperation (SDC), GIZ, TdH Netherlands, Management Sciences for Health (MSH), British Council Bangladesh & UN organizations with different capacities. His current research interest includes ICT4D, Livelihood, and Wellbeing& Gender.

Abdullah Al Mamun    ( Head of Research & Evaluation (on PhD Study Leave) )

Mr. Mamun is highly skilled Research, Measurement, Analysis and Sampling Survey professional with over ten years’ experience in global institutions in Afghanistan, Bangladesh, India, Nepal, UK and the USA. He is also a certified survey statistician in designing and analyzing large-scale sampling surveys.  His expertise includes database development, database management and statistical analysis software. (qualitative and quantitative), GIS software, and webpage and social media applications.

 

He has secured number of prestigious fellowships and awards including;

Currently, he is on Study leave to accomplish his doctroal degre from University Ottawa ( Canada).

 



 

Md Abdus Salam    ( Head of Business Development & Data Science )

Md. Abdus Salam has been leading Business Development & Data Science Department since 1 January 2022. Before this role, Mr. Salam worked as a Manager–Training and Field operations in CRD. His ongoing responsibilities include writing down technical proposals, preparing budgets, developing data tool techniques both qualitative and quantitative, training enumerators, coordinating field activities, providing logistic support, analyzing data, preparing changes stories, and assisting the preparation of reports.  

Before this, he worked in different national and international organizations as a monitoring and evaluation staff. He has more than 12 years’ experience in monitoring & evaluation, evidence capturing & reporting, database development & management, project planning & implementation, networking & communication. He has led many successful projects’ planning, monitoring, reporting, and knowledge sharing parts and facilitated the evaluation team. He also conducted baseline surveys in different projects independently.

He worked in practical action as a Coordinator- Monitoring evaluation and Learning in FoSHoL, V2R, PFP-shiree, and Pumpkin against poverty projects. He has worked in other organizations such as RDRS- Bangladesh, ATDP/IFDC, Christian Aid, and BWCCI (Bangladesh women chamber of Commerce and Industry) and gained diverse experiences regarding food security, nutrition, women empowerment, DRR, WASH, emergency response for Rohingya and host community people.

Mr. Salam has key expertise in the field of monitoring and evaluation sector, like the development of M&E system and implementation strategies, M&E tools techniques development, indicators development, PRA approaches, case studies sampling techniques, facilitated M&E training, entrepreneurship development, digital data collection tools, and partnership coordination, etc.

Anowarul Islam Biplob    ( Manager- Finance, Procurement & Field Operations )

Md. Anowarul Islam (Biplob) leads “Finance, Procurement & Field Operations” at CRD. He manages all day to day business around  people management, administration and all payables and receivables.  

He is an expert in preparing monthly profit and loss balance sheet reports. Also, he is skilled in collecting and analyzing data which gives advice on weekly and monthly estimates. Besides these, he is expert in preparing cash flow statements and controls expenses and cash flows, assists in the preparation of accounts and statutory accounts at the end of the year, maintains the internal payment process and examines the financial distribution including its use. He also prepares vouchers for transactions,  journals, and  other daily financial reports. He prepares annual budget and financial statements as well. He examines financial records for financial accuracy. Also, he assists in staff management and necessary training of the staff.

Syeda Amirun Nuzhat    ( Project Manager- GGiFI Project )

Syeda Amirun Nuzhat  

Syeda Amirun Nuzhat has over 18 years of experience of working and managing projects and programs with Nijera Kori, Transparency International Bangladesh (TIB), Society for Environment and Human Development (SEHD), Consumers Association of Bangladesh (CAB) and Bangladesh Centre for Advanced Studies (BCAS). She has experience to develop and implement programs related to rights-based approach, governance and access to justice through peoples’ movement. She has good perception on women empowerment, violence against women, gender and governance, legal protections and rights and constitutional guarantees for women in Bangladesh. She is Familiar and accustomed in work with advocacy issues especially governance, gender, climate change, DRR, anti-corruption and child rights. Ms. Nuzhat is a strong team worker who enjoys contributing to group efforts, able to work independently and do not hesitate to generate new initiatives. She has a wide-ranging interest in current affairs, global issues and women empowerment, and mobilizing people through cultural and other advocacy tools. She has ample knowledge on dynamic of rural livelihood.

Md. Shafiul Alam    ( Manager- Finance & Admin, GGiFI Project and Acting Head of Finance, Admin, HR and Procurement )

Md. Shafiul Alam is a highly motivated finance professional with 16 years of extensive experience in the field of finance, accounts, operation and administration management and having expertise in preparing financial plan, organizing financial resources, monitoring & controlling of resources and provide financial information about financial position, performance, budget formulating and variance analysis, minimizing financial risk, developing and implementing financial policies & procedures to reach financial discipline and improve the overall efficiency of the organization, establishing internal control systems and compliance with donor and statutory policies and procedures,. In addition to above services, he has vast experiences in managing procurement & HR activities, assisting in internal and external audit team, introducing administrative systems and supervising staff.

Mr. Alam has worked various donor funded development project at different NGO, INGO and Government’s Project in Bangladesh and has ability to drive complex projects from concept to completion while efficiently manages goals, quality standards and timelines for multiple projects and also has focused in utilizing the fund for the stipulated purposes, establishing consistency, transparency and accountability of fund users as well as ensure the highest level of integrity in all types of reporting.

Md Tawshif Islam    ( Sr. Officer- Research & Evaluation )

Mr. Tawshif  has been working with CRD as a Sr. Research & Evaluation Officer who is also holding the title of an Urban Planner with competitive experience in the field of Social Science, Development Studies and GIS.

Mr. Tawshif obtains a degree of BURP (Bachelor of Urban and Regional Planning) and MURP (Masters in Urban and Regional Planning) along with a university merit scholarship, both completed from Jahangirnagar University. Apart from his academic achievements, he attended several international conferences including publications in their respective proceedings in the sector of transportation and seismic evaluation. His previous involvement holds a distinct experience of working with Tohoku University in the SATREPS-TSUIB project, where he developed an integrated network algorithm to evaluate vulnerable network nodes. Furthermore, he has also worked with UDD (Urban Development Directorate) in the project of Mirsharai Upazila Development Plan to initiate a growth pole functional hierarchy procedure along with spatial analysis in the socio-cultural aspect.

He is a team player and an experienced geographic information system analyst with diversified exposure in communication and leadership skills as his earliest involvement acknowledges him in a leading position in several local and international voluntary and commercial programs including Campus Ambassador for SuperMap Software Co. ltd as well.

Mahmuda Akter Anna    ( Sr. Officer- Research & Evaluation )

Mahmuda  Akter Anna is a honest and passionate  development researcher. Anna brings   more than 5 year experience working with children. Prior to CRD, Anna worked with the Save the Children and Islamic Relief (IR) Worldwide. Anna possess strong interpersonal, communication and social development skill; she also has ability to build an effective relationship with different clients.  

By training, Anna is Sociologist. She has completed her graduation and post-graduation from Jagannath University, Dhaka in Sociology. Since 2011, she has been involved in research and experienced in collecting authentic data as a researcher for academic and professional purposes.

She received various training from Save the Children and IR worldwide on field research, monitoring and Evaluation, child protection, anti bravery, anti corruption, communication skill, professionalism, research methodology and journalism.

Md. Abu Salek Khan (Saleh)    ( Sr. Research and Evalaution Officer )

Md. Abu Salek Khan (Saleh) is a young researcher and activist, currently working as a Senior Officer – Research and Evaluation at the Centre for Research and Development – CRD. Socio-economic disparity, border and migration, climate justice, and human rights are the major areas of his research interest and passion.  Mr. Salek is academically trained for qualitative research – ethnographic study, and sociological analysis. He has around 3 years of experience in academic and development research. Prior to CRD, Mr. Salek worked as a Research Associate at Creative Pathways – CP.   

Mr. Salek completed his Post-graduate Diploma (PGD) in Genocide Studies from Centre for Genocide Studies – CGS at University of Dhaka, Master of Arts (MA) in Sociology from South Asian University (New Delhi, India), and Bachelor of Arts (BA) in World Religions and Culture from University of Dhaka. He was a Silver Jubilee scholar at South Asian University, New Delhi, India.

Md Saiful Islam    ( Officer- Admin and Accounts )

Md. Saiful Islam is an ambitious, motivated and multi-skilled Accountant with a keen eye for detail and working experience with accounts. He has excellent mathematical skills as well as being able to produce clear and concise reports offering sound advice on a variety of different subjects. Additionally, he is a clear and effective communicator and work well individually as well as part of a team. Having M.B.A in Accounting from National University, he has worked for many-reputed company like Ranak Construction, Abdul Monem Group, Super Star Group etc. for around 3 years.

Right now, he is working as an Officer-Accounts & Admin at Center for Research and Development (CRD). As an accountant, he specializes in budget preparation and collection for project completion, client deliverables and revenue compliance, Account Management, Brand Management, and other company administration-related tasks. His excellent track-record in providing high-quality results combined with his honest approach and reliable nature would make him an asset to CRD.

Eshita Jahan    ( Officer- Data Science (Quantitative) )

Eshita Jhahan is an ardent learner and an environmental activist and she is intensively motivated to make her career on research and development sector. To implement her knowledge and research integrity she is currently working as a Research Assistant at Centre for Research and development. She is skilled at designing research methodology, data collection and data analysis. Her major research interests focus on Disaster Risk Reduction, WASH and Abatement of Environmental Hazards sector. She wants to implement her working experience of CRD for environmental sustainability as well. She is from a multidisciplinary department. Having a great concern about environmental challenges as well as to understand the solution regarding this, she pursued her M.Sc. degree in Environmental Biotechnology from Jadavpur University, Kolkata, India under Indian Council for Cultural Region Scholarship (2018-2020). Before that, she completed her B.Sc. degree in Leather Engineering from University of Dhaka.

She was an active volunteer of different kinds of organization during her academic period such as Dhaka University Tourist Society, Dhaka University Model United Nations Association etc. and she achieved her leadership quality by performing the assigned roles and responsibilities of those organizations.

She believes that her research integrity, communication & interpersonal skill, working ability in multicultural environments, and diligence will help her to reach towards her future endeavor.

Apart from this, she loves to read and to write at her leisure time. She is always keen to learn new things and to travel new places which help her to understand the different perspectives of life.

Jannatul Ferdous    ( Officer- Data Science (Qualitative)) )

Jannatul Ferdous is a sincere and energetic young professional who is devoted to her work. Her passion is to build up a tremendous career path in research and development sector with excellent interpersonal skills and experiences. Currently she is working as a Research- Intern at Centre for Research and Development (CRD).

Jannatul completed her graduation and post-graduation both in Health Economics from University of Dhaka. Previously, she worked at icddr,b as an intern. Therefore, she gathered good knowledge on qualitative and quantitative research work, data enumerating, FGD interview and transcribing. She also interested in blog writing in many sensitive issues of society.

Being encouraged academic mentor, she dreams to  be an internal development researcher. She believes that hard working, good learning and strong determination make easy to reach the goal. Jannatul loves to meet  and work with people at  the ground.

Tonmoy Nath    ( Communications Officer )

Tonmoy Nath is a communication  professional by training. With a post-graduation degree in Communication & Journalism form University of Chittagong, he has done an internship project “Community Communication Skills Development” under the collaboration of DW Akademie & local Ngo YPSA in cooperation with community Radio Naf. Apart from he has worked for Institute of Informatics & Development (IID) as a qualitative researcher on the project "Promoting and Community Engagement to Address and Counter Anti-Rohingya Narratives".

 

Having a successful record as a communication official as well as qualitative researcher, he is currently employed at Centre for Research and Development (CRD) as Intern-Communications. His expertise lies in field communication, technical report writing, production audio & video stuff, field data collection, translation, transcription. Aside from he is a trained MOJO storyteller as well as radio voice artist. He has made a few MOJOs on “Displacement and Dialogue” where some of them has been published in reputed media.

Sumaiya Akter Rupa    ( Officer- Research & Evaluation )

Sumaiya Akter is an articulate, confident person who relishes challenge and working under pressure. Her academic background has inspired her to build a career in research in Development Sector. Currently she is serving as Research Assistant at Center for Research and Development since October 2021.

She has completed her graduation and post graduation in Women and Gender Studies from University of Dhaka. She has expertise in facilitating field data collection in several research projects under the supervision of Professors during her academic years. She also worked as a youth ambassador at Center for Men and Masculinities Studies (CMMS) in promoting Sexual and Reproductive Health Rights (SRHR) awareness among adolescents. She conducted her academic research monograph on “Entrepreneurship of Rural Women through Microcredit”. She is particularly interested in qualitative and quantitative research on gender, livelihood and disaster risk reduction. She has sportsmanship and got Silver Medal for National Yoga Championship in 2019. She is an adept trekker and adventurous individual.

Abdul Aahad    ( Research Assistant )

Aahad is a research enthusiast who is currently employed as a Research Assistant at the GGiFI project, Centre for Research and Development (CRD). He has a bachelor's degree in Economics and am currently pursuing a master's degree in the same field at the University of Dhaka. Prior to joining CRD, He has worked as an economic data analyst intern at Biz Data Insights (a market research firm). He has represented Bangladesh and led the team at the South Asian Economics Students' Meet Group Research Project. While conducting research, his strong suit is quantitative analysis. He has worked as a Research Assistant on a few projects, the majority of which involved questionnaire preparation and data collection. He is proficient in a variety of data analysis tools, including STATA and R. He wants to apply what he has learned in the field of research and development.

Arif Jawad Siam    ( Research Assistant )

"As a trained research chemist from University College London (UCL) and a previous investment banker at JP Morgan, Arif has always been keen on working in projects with high impact. With his present experience in learning about gender inequality working under Professor Dr. Ayesha Banu, a prolific researcher in gender studies, alongside his previous experience in the collection, analysis, and presentation of both qualitative and quantitative data, he is enthralled to apply those skills gained towards creating a meaningful impact through working in the 'Gender Gap in Financial Inclusion' project."

Monoara Munni    ( Research Assistant )

Monoara Munni is a cheerful and enthusiastic young professional, currently working as a Research Assistant at the Centre for Research and Development (CRD).

Although, having an educational background on Mathematics, she is intensively motivated to make her career in research in development sector.She has over 2 years of experience on volunteerism- she has worked with WaterAid Bangladesh, The Hunger Project Bangladesh and Transparency International Bangladesh (TIB) as a volunteer.

She has attended number of conferences, trainings and projects on WASH, Climate change and in the sector of Development with distinction. She specializes in field research and data collection and is always ready to adapt to changes.

Md Arafat Islam    ( Intern- Research )

Md Arafat Islam  is an organised and motivated person who is capable of doing social science research, fieldwork and working under pressure in all environments. He is completed his graduation in BSS Honours in Development Studies at Khulna University. Also, he is continuing his Masters in Development Studies (Professional) from Bangladesh University of Professionals (BUP). His academic background encourages him to grow his career in Development Sector.

He had experience in Voluntary work with Transparency international Bangladesh, where he got opportunity for research related work in COVID time. Even he has done with his academic thesis under supervision of Assistant Professor of Khulna University. He is comfortable in doing both online and offline research, which he already experiences with his academic life. Also, Mr. Arafat has professional attachment for one month at Gender Resonsive Coastal Adaptation (GCA) program at United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).

From May 2022, he is joined as Intern-Research in CRD and wants to learn new skills, expand his knowledge in research related works, and leverage his learnings.

Rahat Hannan    ( Intern- Research )

Rahat Hannan is a fresh graduate in Mass Communication and Journalism who want to be a dynamic researcher. Since his academic life, he has been involved in many research projects which have created his interest to pursue a career in the field of development research.

Rahat Hannan has joined as a Research- Intern at Centre for Research and Development (CRD) on 10 May 2022. He firmly believes that working with the experts will make him to grow as a researcher.

Anindita Ghosh    ( Intern- Research )

Anindita Ghosh is an enthusiastic, energetic and sincere person who loves new challenges and working under pressure. Currently, she is serving as a Research Intern at Center for Research and Development since May 16, 2022. She has completed her graduation and post graduation in Women and Gender Studies from University of Dhaka. She worked as a teaching fellow at Bangladesh with a focus on gender equality, youth empowerment and women’s rights. She conducted her academic research monograph on “Abolishing of Women’s Quota in Bangladesh Civil Service: It’s Impacts and Consequences”. She has got The Duke of Edinburgh Gold Award is for gaining essential skills and attributes for work and life such as resilience, problem-solving, team-working, communication and drive. Her academic background has inspired her to build a career in development sector with proper gender sensitivity. Her goal is to build up a dynamic career and want to work in a challenging environment with ample prospects for growth; where her education will be of value as well as her knowledge and proficiency will be enriched.

Nazia Naznin    ( Intern- Research )

Nazia Naznin is an enthusiastic young agent. She has completed both her MSS and BSS degrees from the Department of Women and Gender Studies, University of Dhaka, Bangladesh. During her undergrad days, she was associated with different co-curricular activities. She has won The Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award which developed her skills and capabilities. For the academic purpose, she has completed two research papers based on the conflicts between career and family responsibilities experienced by young fathers and on the inclusion of comprehensive sex education in Bangladesh. She has been a co-author of the work on the social and economic impacts of COVID-19 in Bangladesh, published by the Bangladesh Institute of Development Studies.

She is serving as Intern-Research at Centre for Research and Development (CRD) currently. She is an individual who is determined to pursue a challenging and rewarding career.

Md Habibur Rahman    ( Driver )

Md Habibur Rahman is a dedicated, outgoing and dependable driver with excellent record of 14+ experience driving commercial and personal automobiles. He holds a valid medium equipment driver's license and has considerable expertise in driving, caring for and inspecting defective parts, as well as reporting flaws or malfunctions to management.

Prior to his driving experience, he worked for MNCs such as World Vision Logistics, Lily Cosmetics Ltd. etc. He is currently employed at CRD as driver. He performs routine maintenance work such as operating, cleaning and lubricating vehicles in accordance with the Company's health and safety, environmental and other standards as they apply to the process. Having thorough knowledge of automobile and equipment safety, he can use navigation maps and the GPS to draw out short and safe trips. He has the ability to operate under duress and to manage long-distance journeys while placing a significant emphasis on passenger safety and efficiency.

Ronjoy Sangma    ( Office Assistant )

 Ronjoy Sangma is a self-organized and dedicated support staff with 4+ years of experience in providing organizational clerical support. He has joined CRD in mid-March 2022 as an Office Assistant.  He performs scheduling meetings and managing calendars, emailing, answering phone calls and taking messages, maintaining supplies, welcoming guests and providing visitors with information and performing other general office maintenance duties and errands. He has completed his S.S.C in Humanities.

Ronjoy has proven experience in managing files and dealing with other administrative team. Prior to CRD, he worked for INGO and MNCs such as Relief International, Amin Mohammad group and Ready Cash

Achinto Dalbot    ( Office Assistant )

Achinto Dalbot is a fresher dedicated support staff with 10 year of experience in different organizational support. He has joined CRD in June-2022 as an Office Assistant.  He performs scheduling meetings and managing calendars, emailing, answering phone calls and taking messages, maintaining supplies, welcoming guests and providing visitors with information and performing other general office maintenance duties and errands.
