Prof. Ayesha Banu, PhD

Professor Banu was awarded a PhD degree on Bangladesh's Women’s Movement from the University of Dhaka, Bangladesh, in 2015. She received her first Masters in Sociology (1987) from the University of Dhaka, while her second master’s as a Commonwealth scholar (1993–94) was from the Institute of Development Studies (IDS), University of Sussex, UK. She started her career as a researcher at the Institute of Development Studies (BIDS) in 1989. Her research interests include feminism and women’s movements, methodological issues, gender and development, poverty and livelihoods, religion, body, sexuality, and inclusion.
