Prof. Sayema Haque Bidisha, PhD
Lead Economist– Gender Gap in Financial Inclusion in Bangladesh (GGiFI) Project, Centre for Research and Development (CRD) & Professor, Department of Economics, University of Dhaka.
Professor Bidisha is a renowned labor economist in Bangladesh and is actively involved in the economic policy spectrum of the country. Professor Bidisha obtained her PhD in Labor Economics from the University of Nottingham, UK, and also holds a master's from the University of Bath, UK. She worked on a number of research projects on the labor market, gender and women's empowerment, gender budgeting, migration and remittance earning, credit and food security, population and development, economic growth and exchange rate movements, skill and education, poverty and vulnerability, demographic dividend, youth population, etc.
In addition, Dr. Bidisha has worked closely with the Government of Bangladesh in preparing various policy documents and government flagship objects, like drafting several chapters of the 6th Five Year Plan of Bangladesh, reviewing the 8th Five Year Plan, and preparing the country's Perspective Plans.
