MD MOKHLESUR RAHMAN, PhD
Dr. Rahman is a senior research and MEAL professional with 16 years of global experience and proficiency in designing, implementing, and managing MEAL systems and functions for complex programs, leading research and knowledge management projects, and conducting training for large audiences (gender, project management, reporting) in multiple countries.
Dr. Rahman has completed his Ph.D. from Jawaharlal Nehru University, India. The title of his Ph.D. thesis was "Networks, Wellbeing, and Gender: A Study of Information Communication Technologies Centers in Rural and Urban Bangladesh". He also holds an MA in Development Studies from the International Institute of Social Studies, The Netherlands; a Master’s degree in Women and Gender Studies from the University of Dhaka; and a Bachelor’s degree (with honors) in Economics from Rabindra Bharati University, India.
In the recent past, he led the Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability, and Learning (MEAL) Unit of Christian Aid Bangladesh. During this 2-year tenure, he led the establishment of MEAL standards in the Rohingya Response Program of Christian Aid Bangladesh. He also led the quality assurance unit (M&E, Research, Learning, and Gender) with Practical Action Bangladesh during 2012–2017. Prior to that, he also worked with Save the Children Bangladesh, D.Net, and BRAC International (Afghanistan).
Countries of work experience include Ghana, Zimbabwe, Bangladesh, India, Nepal, Pakistan, Afghanistan, and the Netherlands. He also served for The Hunger Project Bangladesh, Swiss Development Cooperation (SDC), GIZ, TdH Netherlands, Management Sciences for Health (MSH), British Council Bangladesh, and UN organizations in different capacities. His current research interests include ICT4D, livelihoods, and wellbeing and gender.
