The "Work in Progress" workshop of the Female Champions Fellowship was held yesterday (19 February 2023) at the Bureau of Economics Research (BER) in the Arts Faculty of the University of Dhaka.The workshop was organized by the Centre for Research and Development (CRD) which aimed to support researchers to sharpen their ongoing research.
With funding support from Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, CRD has been implementing a 2.5-year research project titled "Gender Gap in Financial Inclusion in Bangladesh (GGiFI)" in Bangladesh. Under this project, CRD aims to motivate and build capacity of the young female students of Department of Women and Gender Studies and Department of Economics, University of Dhaka. This year (Y1: 2023), 8 female champions (4 from each department) were selected, and they have been working under their respective academic supervisor since early 2023. In today’s workshop, each of the fellow presented their research design and received some feedbacks. The fellows are Shamsad Navia Novelly, Mst. Tania Tahid Tani, Nazia Noor, and Nawshin Jarin Prapti (from Department of Women and Gender Studies) and Jinat Jahan Khan, Farzin Mumtahina, Samiha Islam, and Namira Shameem (from Department of Economics)!
