Assessing the types and level of existing conflicts that could mediate between and within the FDMN camps and adjacent host communities (in Teknaf)
GIZ is actively addressing conflicts within and between FDMN camps and neighboring host communities in Cox's Bazar. The Rohingya refugee influx has strained the local economy, reducing wages, increasing crime, and causing environmental damage, while refugees face widespread Gender-Based Violence (GBV). GIZ and other organizations are working to promote economic resilience, social harmony, and gender inclusion through cash-for-work programs and regular stakeholder meetings to ease tensions and support peaceful coexistence. GIZ specifically focuses on reducing GBV and intra-community conflicts using gender-responsive and inclusive approaches. These efforts involve both state and non-state actors and target conflict-affected areas within both host and displaced FDMN communities. The project aims to assess the types and levels of conflicts within and between host and FDMN communities in camps 21, 22, 24, 25, 26, 27, and adjacent host communities to mediate effectively.
Centre for Research and Development (CRD) Ltd. has been awarded the contract to conduct the assessment. Dr. Md. Mokhlesur Rahman will lead the vibrant team for this project.
