Endline Survey for “Enhancement of Protection Mechanism and Community Resilience Against Gender-based Violence (GBV) at Refugee Camp and Host Community in Cox’s Bazar, Bangladesh”

The Rohingya crisis is a severe humanitarian issue, with over 943,000 Rohingya migrants in Bangladesh, mainly in densely populated camps. Many have been relocated to Bhashan Char Island, raising concerns due to its remote location. Efforts are being made to establish sustainable income sources there. These refugees depend on government and NGO support for their humanitarian needs, while facing risks of sexual and gender-based violence, limited job opportunities, sexual abuse, human trafficking, early child marriage, and forced unions. Gender-based violence remains a significant issue in the camps, particularly affecting Rohingya females due to their refugee status and ethnicity.

World Vision Bangladesh (WVB) is among the organizations that have undertaken initiatives to strengthen the capacity of the refugee communities in addressing gender-based violence (GBV). Prior to this undertaking, WVB formulated a project aimed at delivering GBV support services in Camp 19 and the neighboring host community in Cox's Bazar with the objective of mitigating GBV risks faced by women and adolescent girls. The execution of this project has heightened the efforts in preventing and addressing community-based GBV, leading to improved accessibility to diverse support services in both the refugee camp and the host community.

CRD has been assigned to carry out the endline survey for “Enhancement of Protection Mechanism and Community Resilience Against Gender-based Violence (GBV) at Refugee Camp and Host Community in Cox’s Bazar, Bangladesh” of World Vision International. The team is led by Dr. Md Mokhlesur Rahman, lead consultant and CEO of CRD.
