Training Facilitation of “Gender and Development” for 18 mid-level staff of Handicap International Bangladesh
CRD has facilitated the- “Gender and Development” training for 18 mid-level staff of Handicap International Bangladesh in 2019. Also, a brief report on this Gender Training was submitted by CRD. The training was two-day long with six sessions where two gender experts- Professor Dr. Ayesha Banu, Department of Women & Gender Studies, University of Dhaka and Dr. Md. Mokhlesur Rahman, Founder & CEO of CRD facilitated the training sessions. A total of 18 mid-level staff of Handicap International participated in the training. Among them, 3 were female and 15 were the male staff. From the Dhaka office, 12 participants took part in the training, while 6 were from different field offices of HI.
The first-day training was facilitated by Professor Dr. Ayesha Banu and she had kept her focus on the different theoretical and historical issues and debates on gender. Her main discussed topics were- Basic Concepts and Issues related to Women and Gender, Gender-based violence and its implication, and the Women’s Movement in Bangladesh.
The 2nd-day training conducted by Dr. Md. Mokhlesur Rahman. He had given the emphasis on gender-related practice in the development sector in the context of Bangladesh. His main discussion was on- Development & Gender Discourse, Empowerment & Women’s Economic Empowerment and finally Integration of Gender into Development Programs.
