Conducting Maturity Assessment of Peace Facilitator Groups (PFGs)
Democracy International (DI) has been implementing an eight-year long program titled “Strengthening Political Landscape” (SPL). SPL has two primary goals: Goal 1 is to equip Political Party Activists and Politically Active Citizens with the necessary skills and knowledge to become effective leaders and advocate for more inclusive policies and practices within their respective parties. Goal 2 focuses on enhancing the skills of Political Party Activists and Politically Active Citizens to engage in constructive approaches to reduce and manage conflicts. Since the beginning of SPL, the Hunger Project Bangladesh (THP) has been working (through a partnership agreement) with DI to achieve goal 2. THP has been supporting the abilities of individuals to engage in constructive methods to mitigate conflicts through the People Against Violence Everywhere (PAVE) training program. The PAVE trained participants come together to create Peace Facilitator Groups (PFGs) at the Upazilas-level. As, the PFGs have been working over the last 6 years, thus it has been felt necessary to evaluate and understand level of maturity of groups. The purpose of the maturity assessment is to assess the level of maturity of the 27 PFGs and document important lessons learned.
To commission this assessment, Dr. Md Mokhlesur Rahman -CEO & Lead Consultant of Centre for Research and Development (CRD) has been contracted by DI. Ms. Sumaiya Akter is working as associate to accomplish the study.
