End-line Evaluation for "Bangladesh Sirajganj Community Based Nutrition Project for Children"

Nutrition is one of the foundations of health and development, and specifically in Bangladesh, malnutrition is one of the major causes of childhood illness and mortality (World Bank (WB), 2006). Twenty Three percent (23%) of children under-five are considered underweight (Bangladesh Bureau of Statistics (BBS) and UNICEF Bangladesh, 2019). Children are the building blocks of a country but they are at high nutritional risk. If malnutrition rates were reduced significantly, the returns on improved health, well-being, and productivity would be significant, and there would be a concurrent substantial reduction in the child mortality rate. A well-nourished Bangladeshi population will be more capable of fulfilling its aspirations in education, health, and economic well-being. In doing so, many NGOs and INGOs including UN are working to eradicate malnutrition. In this continuation, Good Neighbors Bangladesh (GNB), works with the mission to improve the lives of the community people especially registered sponsored children of GNB through education, health services, youth development, and women empowerment and livelihood improvement. On that background, GNB undertaken a project to improve the nutritional status of children by ensuring food diversity and security and creating a nutrition-friendly community network through all stakeholders’ engagement. The project is going to end soon. Thus, end line evaluation has been initiated.  The Centre for Research and Development (CRD) has been awarded to evaluate this project. The evaluator team is led by Dr. Md Mokhlesur Rahman, lead consultant and CEO of CRD.
